Local Food Systems: a site for networking, collaborating, and building local economies

We envision a network of stakeholders engaging in a collaborative and participatory process to examine a broad range of regional food issues and assets around commercial growing, processing and distributing staple foods as well as the feasibility of using county-owned land and well fields to develop a local staple food program for the most food insecure population.  Our aim is to organize a county task force of farmers, rural landowners, the regional food bank, NPO’s, institutional and commercial buyers, schools, and social service agencies.
